Environmental Issues the Euphrates
Iraq's participation in the recent wars influenced the water quality of the Euphrates River. Iraq has set many oil wells on fire during the Persian Gulf War. In effort to put out the fire, the Saudi Arabian officials sprayed water over the fire. As the water evapourated, the oil evapourated as well. This mixture of water and oil eventually rained back down, contaminating the river as well as the land.
Furthermore, the factories and small scale industries have been dumping the pollutants into the river. These actions can cause the river water to become poisonous to the lives around the river. To contribute to the world's environment, the tourists will have a chance to clean up the river, and learn about how important the Euphrates river is to the ecosystem.
